Help the Chamber break $4,000 in scholarship money

The Newcastle Chamber of Commerce is looking for help to beat its previous record, and raise more than $4,000 for scholarships for Newcastle Public Schools’ seniors.

In order to do so, they have scheduled the Racers for Excellence Sweet Scholar Auction from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25 at The Barn at Country Club.

For this auction, they have been collecting items such as gift cards and electronics, and will have tasty donated desserts for those attending to bid on.

“Join us as we raise funds for the Racers for Excellence Scholarship, awarded to selected NPS seniors,” stated Chamber committee member Ella Murguia, who can be contacted for questions or donations at 405-392-3600.

“Proceeds made from the event go to scholarships for Newcastle High School students who will be attending college the next year,” said Chamber CEO Gayla Riddle.

These scholarships are named after community members Mona Brite, Cindy Frizzell, Patti Manness, and Gene Reid. Attendees can choose to pay $35 for their lunch and a tasting fork combo, which provides samples of the desserts, lunch only at $25, or tasting fork only at $15.

The presenting sponsor for the annual Auction and meal is Pioneer Cooperative. Meal sponsors are OEC & OEC Fiber, and Legacy Bank. The Decor sponsor is Focus Federal Credit Union. Beverage sponsor is Physical Therapy Central, and the Tasting Fork sponsor is The First National Bank & Trust.
