Started Tuesday and goes 14 days
The City of Newcastle has instituted a burn ban effective March 18 and continuing for a period of 14 days, or until sufficient measurable rainfall is received to eliminate dangerous wildfire conditions.
Many areas across Oklahoma have experienced dangerous and destructive wildfires. The lack of rain, high wind, and dry vegetation has prompted the City of Newcastle to be proactive in the issuance of a burn ban for the safety of residents and first responders.
The Newcastle Fire Chief and City administration will monitor and evaluate conditions, and implement changes as necessary.
Thank you and stay safe.
