NHS Band has several superiors at Districts

Newcastle High School Band students participated at OSSAA District Solo & Ensemble Contest recently. Several came back with superior ratings.

All soloists and ensembles who scored superior advance to the State Contest at Oklahoma State University in April.

Students, the instruments they play, and their ratings on performances at the contest are the following: Thelma Amudzi, marimba solo, superior; Abby Barnes, flute solo, superior; Bradyn Biggerstaff, trumpet solo, excellent; Kailyn Birt, alto saxophone solo, excellent; Braxton Cyrus, clarinet solo, superior; Logan Earthman, tuba solo, excellent; Saydee Espinosa, clarinet solo, excellent; Wyatt Haws, tenor saxophone solo, excellent; Caleb Hysell, clarinet solo, excellent; Jakob Kastens, alto saxophone solo, superior; Gavin Lackey, tuba solo, excellent; Cooper Lamb, euphonium solo, superior; Katelynn Lewis, French horn solo, superior; James Sanders, alto saxophone solo, good; Johnny Tisby, clarinet solo, superior; Ella Whitmore, contra clarinet solo, good; and Jared Wickham, trombone solo, superior.
