The Newcastle Racer girls took a loss against Washington to conclude regular season play; however, they remain number 6 in the state going into OSSAA Class 4A District competition on Saturday.
The Racers will play against Mount St. Mary at 6 p.m. Saturday in Newcastle.
Both teams progress to Regionals, but one will have a loss and will have to win out in order to continue to State.
In the 56-52 loss to Washington, the Racers were led by Kalani Kindred with 18 points. Lilly Taliaferro had 12. Ziyah Sims had 10. Raegan Greenroyd had 5. Zarayia Sims had 4, and Whitney Wollenberg had 3.
The Racers had a third period lead going into the fourth; however, Washington held them to only 8 fourth period points while scoring 15.
The Racers have a 19-6 record going into post-season play. The State Tournament is March 12-15 in Oklahoma City.
