With regular season play now behind them, the Racers will face Mount St. Mary in the District Tournament. Newcastle hosts the game at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
They’ll have their hands full having lost to the team on February 1 by a score of 56-51.
In February, the Racers have had wins against Oklahoma Christian Academy and Kingston, but losses to Mount St. Mary, Crossings Christian School, and Washington.
In the February 1 game against Mount St. Mary, Zach Cragg had 13 points. Cole Seely had 12 and Antonio Brown had 10. Mount St. Mary won three of the four periods, but the Racers did hold them to only 5 points in the second period.
On February 4, the Racers beat OCA, 59-45. Brown led scoring with 19 points. Cragg had 13. The Racers also beat the Kingston Redskins, 6033. Brown had 22 points in the February 6 game to again lead the Racers in scoring. Six of his buckets came from 3-point range.
A 71-56 loss to Crossings Christian came on February 7, with Crossings winning every period including a 28-point third period. Brown had 19 points to lead Newcastle. Four of those were from 3-point range. Cragg had 15 points, and Alan Price had 11. Three of his came from 3-point range.
The regular season came to a conclusion as Washington visited Newcastle and won, 65-58. Cragg led the way for the Racers with 24 points. Brown had 13.
The Racers have an 11-12 record going into post-season play.
