Newcastle High School swimmer Connor Leader, a junior, made his return to the OSSAA West Regionals with two championships, winning a first-place finish in the 100 Yard Breaststroke and a first place in the 100 Yard Butterfly.
In the Breaststroke, Leader dominated the competition with a 31.79 split time and a 59.98 time overall. The next closest competitor was 35.04 and 1:05.56.
Leader’s times in the Butterfly were 28.13 and 52.87 overall. The second-place competitor had times of 29.66 and 56.76.
Class 5A Regionals was held February 8 at the Edmond Public Schools Aquatic Center at Mitch Park.
Next stop is the State Swim Meet on February 21-22 at the Jenks Public Schools Aquatic Center. Last year, Leader finished as State Champion in the 100 Yard Backstroke and the 100 Yard Butterfly.
