Newcastle’s Racer girls are finishing their regular season strong. They’ve had three wins over the past week, beating Oklahoma Christian Academy, Kingston and Crossings Christian.
Newcastle was ranked #6 in OSSAA Class 4A this week.
The Racers beat OCA, 6923, and spread out their scoring amongst the team members. Leading the way was Ziyah Sims with 14. Zarayia Sims and Emerson Marble had 12 each. Brylee Scott had 9, while Whitney Wollenberg, Lilly Taliaferro and Kaelin Horton had 5 each. Kalani Kindred added 4, Ava Snider had 2, and Madi Hendrix had 1.
Kingston came next, but the Racers prevailed, 55-46. Kindred hit for 15 points. Taliaferro had 10, and Wollenberg and Ziyah Sims each had 9. All three of Wollenberg’s buckets were from 3-point range. Zarayia Sims had four points, and Bella Allen had 3.
On Friday night, the Racers beat Crossings Christian, 6131. Kindred led the way with 17 points.
Reagan Greenroyd had 12 points. Horton and Taliaferro had 7 apiece. Ziyah Sims had 6, while Zarayia had 5. Jailiana Salas had 4, Bella Allen had 2, and Emerson Marble had 1.
The Racers have an overall record of 19-5, and they are undefeated against Class 4A competition. They’ll finish regular season play with a game against Class 3A Washington on February 14.
The Racers will host both District and Regionals.
For District, the Racers are scheduled to play Mount St. Mary.
The Newcastle Racer boys beat OCA, 59-45, and then beat Kingston, 60-33, before taking the loss to Crossings Christian, 71-56. The boys also play Washington on February 14.
