Frances Jo (Fite) Langford

Frances Jo (Fite) Langford January 2, 1933 to January 20, 2025 Frances Jo (Fite) Langford passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 20, 2025.

She was the youngest of seven siblings born January 2, 1933, to Earl Fite and wife Lyda (Murrell) Fite in Pecan Grove, Oklahoma.

She grew up in Holdenville, Oklahoma, where she graduated from Holdenville High School and was a member of the women’s basketball team.

She married John Thomas (Jay) Langford on June 9, 1951, in Holdenville at the age of 18. They had three children, Earl Wayne, Jana Denise, and Kevin Keith. They moved a lot while her husband Jay was serving in the US Navy. They returned to Oklahoma City in 1961 and eventually built their home in Newcastle, Oklahoma.

Jo worked at Leeway Trucklines for many years before becoming the church secretary for Newcastle First Baptist Church, where she served for over 25 years before retiring. She was a long-time member of the church choir.

Jo spent many years serving her church’s meals ministry, and she also enjoyed serving meals at the Newcastle Senior Citizens Center. She had a servant’s heart.

Jo loved watching her children’s, grandchildren’s and even great-grandchildren’s school events and sporting activities. Her greatest joy was hosting Easter Sunday dinner and Christmas Eve at her house with her entire family.

She was preceded in death by: her parents and her siblings, and her husband, Jay, of 56 years.

Jo is survived by: son Earl Langford and wife Sheryl, daughter Jana Meler and husband Mark, and son Kevin Langford and wife Karrie; 10 grandchildren, John and wife Jenni Langford, Carrie Snell, Ashley and husband Justin Van Brunt, Josh and wife Misty Williams, Rachel and husband Jason Myrko, Matthew and wife Anna Meler, Ashlee Meler, Karisa and husband Matt Woods, Bradley and wife Meagan Langford, Brandon Langford and fiancé Sara Borden; 20 greatgrandchildren, Keigan Langford, Griffin Langford, Jackson Langford, Sorren Langford, Easton Snell, Hunter Glenn, Bayleigh Van Brunt, Dacia Williams, Rylan Williams, Nolan Myrko, Jayci Myrko, Devin Bolser, Connor Bolser, Carson Bolser, Allie Wolfe and husband Nathan, James Woods, Berkley Langford, Triton Langford, Trystin Langford, and Kambri Langford.

Visitation hours were from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, January 26 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Tri-City. The family received friends and relatives from 3-5 p.m.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Monday January 27 at the First Baptist Church in Newcastle. Burial followed at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
