Two wins and one loss have been written into the record books for Newcastle in regular season play as the Racers started the 2025 portion of their basketball schedule.
Newcastle beat Cache, 5145, and then took the loss to Kingfisher, 57-46. They added another win against Clinton, 58-40.
On Tuesday night, they faced Class 4A number nineranked Bethany; however, the outcome could not be reported by Newcastle Pacer print deadline.
In the Cache game, held January 7, the Racers had a big second period scoring 24 points, and taking the lead 3126 going into halftime. They also held Cache to only five fourth period points.
The Racers spread out their scoring with Chapman Mc-Cully hitting for 13. Antonio Brown had 14, and Cole Seely had 13. Zach Cragg added another seven. Alan Price and Chris Brinlee had two each.
Kingfisher took the win after Newcastle had a lower scoring effort in the second period. The Racers scored 10, 9, 8 and 19, while Kingfisher had 14, 16, 9 and 18.
Cragg had 19 points to lead Racer scoring, while Seely added 12. Brown had five, Alan Price had six. Chris Brinlee had three, and Rex Heskew added two.
The Racers came back January 16 to outscore Clinton in every period except for the third, where they almost matched their opponent. Newcastle had 18, 14, 12 and 14, while Clinton had 9, 9, 14 and 8.
Cragg was high scorer for the Racers with 18 points. Brown had 17 points, Seely had 8, and Price had 6. Heskew had 4. Easton Hubble had 2, and Aden Shumard had 3.
Newcastle hosts the Otho Sweet Pea Tournament today (Thursday) through Saturday. The Racers begin play at 8:30 p.m. against Class 5A Coweta.
