On January 19, Pioneer Library System (PLS) invites the community to celebrate the birthday of an iconic entertainer and philanthropist, Dolly Parton.
Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, Dolly has brought the joy of reading to millions of children across the globe, inspiring young minds and fostering a love of books.
To honor Dolly’s contributions to literacy and her passion for empowering young readers worldwide, PLS will host birthday celebrations throughout the service area, which includes Newcastle. These special events will feature a Dolly Parton-themed photo opportunity, an opportunity to sign a giant birthday card for Dolly herself, and more. PLS is proud to partner with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which currently serves more than 10,000 children in the community. Through this initiative, children from birth to age five receive a new book each month, completely free of charge to their families.
As Dolly’s birthday approaches, the PLS Foundation invites community members to join in supporting this initiative. Donations help ensure every eligible child in the service area has access to the magic of books during their most formative years.
