Wrestling took a brief break, but now enters the January Grind, according to coaches.

Newcastle traveled to Bridge Creek on Tuesday, January 7. District Duals are in Elgin today (Thursday, January 9). And the Pauls Valley Tournament is Friday for the junior high girls and Saturday for the high school boys and girls.

“This is a tough time. It will feel like we are wrestling almost every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday,” a wrestling spokesperson said. “Maintaining weight, eating right and getting the right amount of sleep is going to be crucial for optimal performance during this month.”

District Duals, only for the high school boys, will pit the Racers against returning OSSAA Class 5A Dual and Individual Champions Elgin Owls. They’ll also face the Southeast High School Spartans and the Lawton Eisenhour High School Eagles.
