For those who would like to donate, a gofundme account has been set up for the family of Ryder Lewis. Or, for those who would rather make an in-person donation, an account has been set up at BancFirst.
These donations can be made at any BancFirst location as a deposit to FBO Ryder Lewis, Newcastle, OK.
According to the gofundme, Lewis was the victim of a senseless act of violence. He was a sophomore at Newcastle High School.
Oklahoma City Police had a report around midnight early on December 23 of a stabbing at a residence in Southeast Oklahoma City. Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene, and a 15-yearold suspect was taken into custody.
Theresa Moyers, who organized the gofundme, writes, “While his parents should be preparing to celebrate Christmas with their teenage son, they’ll be planning his funeral instead. Ryder’s passing is devastating, and has cast a long shadow on what should be a joyous season.”
Newcastle Schools announced that the high school will have extra counselors available for those needing support when students return Friday, January 3.
The gofundme, which can be accessed by typing in gofundme. com and searching for Ryder Lewis had already raised more than $16,000 as of last Friday.
Moyers writes, “We hope you’ll join us in prayer and in action as we rally around the Lewis’ during this time.”
Funeral services by Wilson- Little Funeral Home were at 1 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2024, at Crossroads Cathedral. Burial followed at Newcastle Memorial Gardens.
