Both the Racer girls and the Racer boys basketball teams beat Blanchard at home Tuesday, December 17.
The OSSAA Class 4A number eight-ranked Newcastle girls won, 66-38, while the unranked boys beat Class 4A’s number 12-ranked Blanchard, 52-46.
Kalani Kindred led the Racers scoring with 20 points. Lilly Taliaferro had 13 points, and several other team members contributed to the offensive output.
Ziyah Sims had 8, Whitney Wollenberg had 6. Kaelin Horton hit 5 points, and Jailiana Salas, Reagan Greenroyd, and Zarayia Sims had 4 each. Brylee Scott also added a bucket.
The Racer girls were 6-1 on the season after this game.
The Racer boys had four players hitting double digits. They were led by Antonio Brown, who had 13 points. Zach Cragg, Jon’Tre Sloan and Cole Seely each had 10. Chris Brinlee had 4 points, Rex Heskew had 3, and Alec Shumard had 2.
Newcastle’s Racers were 3-4 on the year after this game.
