Newcastle Racer girls have proven to be a selfless scoring team so far this year during their wins against Chickasha and John Marshall. Four Racers scored in double figures to help beat Chickasha, 60-34, and six Racers scored in double figures to help dominate John Marshall, 94-16.
Whitney Wollenberg had 19 points to lead scoring in the Chickasha game. Lilly Taliaferro and Kalani Kindred had 12 apiece, and Ziyah Sims had 10 points. Jailiana Salas added 3, while Raegan Greenroyd and Brylee Scott hit 2 points each. The Racers outscored Chickasha in every period but the first going 10-11 in the first, 15-7 in the second, and 23-6 and 12-11 in the third and fourth periods.
Head Coach Jim Perinovic said the Racers ran the clock for the last 14 points or the game may have really gotten out of control. The Racers scored 30, 25, 24 and 15 in the first through fourth periods, while John Marshall had 6, 2, 4 and 4. More on the game in a story on page 10.
Kindred was high scorer for Newcastle with 19 points. Taliaferro had 17 points, and Kaelin Horton had 16. Greenroyd added another 15 points, while Ziyah Sims had 12. Wollenberg had 7, Salas had 6, and Zarayia Sims had 2.
