A free dog adoption event will be from 3-7 p.m. on Saturday at Veterans Park during the Christmas in the Park.
The adoption event is sponsored by the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce and OEC/OEC Fiber in partnership with the City of Newcastle Animal Shelter.
All dogs are spayed or neutered, and vaccinated. They are free to take.
Other Chamber of Commerce events coming up include a multi-chamber lunch, an ugly sweater mingle, and a chili cookoff.
The Community-Wide Chili Cook-Off, sponsored by Walmart, is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Newcastle Christian Church, 2200 N. Main Street. Entry is $25 per chili, and the public can get taster samples and serving for $10. A portion of the proceeds goes to first responders.
A Dirty Santa ornament exchange and Christmas Mingle is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Social Room in Blanchard.

Then, the Chamber Christmas Mingle and Pioneer ugly sweater gathering is at 9 a.m., December 20 at the Pioneer office, 901 N. Main Street.
