Aluncheon to show appreciation to the membership of the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce was Tuesday, November 19 at the Community Meeting room at Newcastle Library.
The Dakota’s Restaurantcatered meal, and meeting sponsored by Legacy Bank and Walmart, provided a thank you to those attending, while filling bellies with a prethanksgiving meal of turkey, ham, salad, stuffing, potatoes, rolls and pumpkin pie.
Announcement was made of the newest rendition of the Chamber Board of Directors. They include: Janelle Cottrell, JC Promo; Abigail Cabello, Focus Federal Credit Union; Ashley Evans, Oklahoma Electric Cooperative; Tony Pound, Sooner State Bank; Emily Littlejohn, Physical Therapy Central; Brad Pierce, Pioneer; Crystal Bennett, Republic Services; Brittany Houser, First National Bank & Trust; Justin Woolverton, Nabholz; Micha Smith, Walmart; and Shane Jemison, Chickasaw Nation.
Chamber CEO Gayla Riddle thanked members, saying, “Your commitment to fostering strong relationships, supporting local businesses, and investing in our shared vision of Newcastle is to be commended.” EVENTS on page 3 Riddle said the Chamber is thankful for those who give their time to volunteer, participate in events, and support the local economy.

“Thank you for believing in Newcastle, for working together, and for making this Chamber a place where businesses and friends can truly thrive. We could not do this without you,” she said.
Several community events are either underway or quickly approaching. Announcements were made about last week’s annual free Thanksgiving dinner provided by Newcastle United Methodist Church.
City of Newcastle Parks & Recreation Director Kyle Marks said Christmas in the Park is December 7 and will include the pet adoption event, free pictures with Santa, a holiday market, and the parade of lights.
Marks said the event sponsorship for 2025 is also out and has all the City’s events outlined.
The Mobile Maker, a fullservice STEAM experience on wheels, is coming to Newcastle Library December 1013. The Newcastle Library also has an Angel Tree in the foyer and invites the public to come pick up an angel.
The Barn at County Club will have its Breakfast with Santa from 9-11 a.m. on December 16 for a $20 fee.
Free classes on credit scores and mortgages are available at Mid-America Technology Center on December 10 and December 17.
The Chamber also announced its upcoming December events. They include a 3-7 p.m. December 7 Dog Adoption Event at Veterans Park; a Chili Cook-off at Newcastle Christian Church from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. December 13 in support of area first responders; and a 9 a.m. December 20 Morning Mingle at Pioneer. This is Pioneer’s annual ugly and bright holiday sweater contest.
