Newcastle swim season is getting underway and Connor Leader is already having success. Leader took first place November 5 at Norman High School in the Moore versus Norman meet. He was in the Boys 50-yard freestyle and had a time of 23.92 in the seed and a time of 23.41 time in the finals.
Leader came in first place in the 100 yard freestyle, as well, with a seed time of 52.07 and a finals time of 51.13.
An announcement by the Oklahoma Schools Secondary Athletic Association of tentative classifications came out earlier this year. They place Newcastle in Class 5A for competitive swimming.
Leader went to the Norman versus Edmond meet on November 13 and had a third place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with times of 25.51 and 29.16 for a total of 54.67. He placed second in the 100yard breaststroke with times of 29.07 and 32.56 for a total of 1:01.56.
The Newcastle swimmer also took part in the Norman versus Mustang and Putnam City North swim meet on November 19. Leader placed first in the 200-yard IM with times of 26.01 and 32.04, and 35.67 and 30.22 for a finals time of 2:03.94. Leader placed second in the 100-yard backstroke with times of 28.13 and 29.95 for a total of 58.08.
