Operation Christmas application deadline is tomorrow

McClain County Operation Christmas 2024 isn’t quite in the bag yet.

Applications are still being accepted. Be aware, though, that time is running out to turn in those applications.

The deadline to apply is tomorrow (Friday, November 22). Applicants must be Mc-Clain County residents and meet income guidelines.

Peggy Christian, chief elf for the annual holiday drive, said applications are available at Delta Community Action on Main Street in Purcell, The Purcell Register, the Purcell Public Library, the McClain County Health Department, the OSU Extension Office and senior citizen centers in Wayne, Purcell, Newcastle, Washington, Byars and Dibble.

A pplications are also available at schools in Newcastle, Purcell, Washington, Wayne and Dibble. Christian is also calling for volunteers to work organizing the gifts and food baskets. Those workers are needed the week of December 9-13. Donations of toys, clothing, toiletries, books, school supplies and more are still being accepted, she added.

And as always, McClain County Operation Christmas accepts monetary donations.

Christian said the program spends an average of $15,000 per year on new toys and groceries to fill the food baskets
