New, existing officials put focus on lowering taxes, individual rights
Local Newcastle results from the November 5 election mirrored statewide voting — they, too, were a Republican sweep.
Republican Kendal Sacchieri won the State Senate District 43 seat with 30,013 votes, or 80.50% over her Democrat opponent, Sam Graefe, who had 7,271 votes.
Jonathan Wilk, republican from Goldsby, was elected in the State Representative District 20 race, and had 75.78% of the vote. Newcastle Democrat Mitchell Jacob had 4,524 votes.
In the U.S. Representative District 4 race, Tom Cole had 65.25% of the vote with 199,784. Democrat Mary Brannon had 86,568, and Independent James Stacy had 19,849 votes.
The day after the election, Sacchieri said, “I am honored to be elected to serve the people and last night’s numbers were clear that conservative values are alive and well in Senate District 43. I will be a warrior for limited government and maximum freedom for Oklahomans.”
Sacchieri thanked everyone who cast their vote for her.
“I praise God for the opportunity to serve you, and I’m excited to get to work defending the blessings of liberty and prosperity,” she said. “My upcoming session will be focused around getting the government back to its limited jurisdictions, where it is currently overstepping.”
Wilk said his service and decisions will be a reflection of the communities’ values.
Wilk said, “I am grateful for the opportunity to represent House District 20. I am committed to upholding our conservative values, including lower tax- es, the Second Amendment, and protecting our God-given rights. I look forward to representing the values of our community at the People’s House. Thank you for your trust.”
Jacob was moved by the voter turnout and said he plans to still be involved in the area.
Jacob said, “It was an honor to be on your November ballot. The voter turnout in HD20 was approximately 72%, and I am incredibly proud to live in such a politically engaged community.
“I had some incredible moments, some challenging moments, met thousands of amazing people, and I can say this definitively: I love living in Newcastle, and I look forward to continuing to meet my neighbors and become involved in this community.”
Cole said he’ll continue to seek solutions in Washington D.C. for problems the people of the area face.
Cole said, “I want to start by thanking the voters of the 4th District of Oklahoma for placing their trust in me and allowing me to continue to represent them as their representative in congress. It is an honor and privilege to represent the Fourth Congressional District and fight for our shared Oklahoma values and priorities in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Cole said the American people have faced numerous challenges and great uncertainty over the past few years, and he remains committed to fighting hard every day for solutions to these problems that every Oklahoma family faces.
“My constituents can count on me to fight for a safer and stronger America by working to increase pay for our military men and women, invest in vitally important medical and weather research, and in securing our border. My top priority will always be representing the views, the values, and the interests of the people of my district and the state of Oklahoma.
“I look forward to championing your causes over the next term.”
