Newcastle, Noble and Dibble were the only communities in central Oklahoma that registered gains in their Sales and Use tax collections over sales numbers from 2023.
The November numbers are based on business in September, according to the Oklahoma Tax Commission.
Every other town in the report, and even McClain County, registered lower numbers in 2024 than were recorded in 2023.

Use tax:
Every state with a sales tax has a companion tax for outside the state. In Oklahoma, this is a “use tax.” When someone purchases items for use in Oklahoma from retailers who do not collect sales tax, the buyer owes the state on those items. The state use tax was first enacted in 1937.
