Voters have 3 choices on ballot for U.S. Representative District 4 seat

Incumbent U.S. Congressman Tom Cole (R-Norman) is being challenged by Mary Brannon (D-Washington) and James Stacy (I-Burneyville).

Issues they say are important to them are the following.

Tom Cole Republican

Cole said he is for preserving the Second Amendment. He has an A rating with the National Rifle Association.

Cole is for National Security and said he has worked to protect military installations from cuts.

He is for American Energy Independence, saying he’ll continue fighting for American energy independence and for Oklahoma’s economy.

Cole said he is for protecting the unborn. He says he has a 100% rating from the National Right to Life Committee, and an A+ rating from the Susan B. Anthony List.

Other issues of importance include debt and spending, veterans issues and Oklahoma installations, securing the border, and growing the economy. Cole said the best way for government to create jobs is to get out of the way and let American ingenuity and entrepreneurship thrive.

Mary Brannon Democrat

Brannon said she is running for Oklahoma’s Congressional District 4 because she absolutely supports Oklahoma schools, protecting Social Security/Medicare/Medicaid, and Veterans, as well as providing transparency in government.

She said if elected she would prioritize veterans and keeping the VA Hospitals run by the government instead of privatizing them.

She wants to roll back funding cuts and restore benefits for Veterans.

Brannon said she would reverse the Republican tax cuts, and stop and cuts to Social Security and Medicare.

She added that she would make the richest 2% pay their fair share in taxes.

She also feels it is important to keep health care affordable by keeping the Affordable Care Act in place.

James Stacy Independent

Stacy said he does not answer to any party, but to the people of Oklahoma, and will vote based on what is best for Oklahoma.

Stacy is for women’s reproductive Rights. He said the government should not be making medical decisions for anyone that is against what that person wants.

He wants to create a Cyberforce that would protect America’s Cyber Frontiers.

He wants to remove cannabis from scheduling so that states can regulate it, and he wants to bring in more industries through Federal tax incentives. These would include but are not limited to the following: Hempcrete, Chip Manufacturing, Renewable Energy, Electrical Charging Stations, and Biodegradable Hemp bioplastic.

Stacy said he wants to increase Oklahoma teachers’ pay, and he wants to ensure safe water supplies.

He wants affordable housing, saying high interest rates are preventing many people from achieving the American dream of home ownership, but the low availability of inventory also needs to be addressed.

Stacy said it’s important to protect the Constitutional Republic. He added that the First Amendment is so the government cannot stop citizens from complaining about an unfair government. He said it was not intended so that politicians can lie to gain or hold on to power.

He believes the word News should be a protected word.

Stacy said there is a need for Federal coordination with local tribal governments to find missing indigenous women or in the case of murder, find and prosecute the person or people responsible.

He wants to fix guest worker programs, saying the U.S. needs a stable program so that companies can rely on guest workers that have properly crossed the border and are paying taxes.

Stacy said the tax code needs to be fixed, explaining that it should be an upward arc, rather than a lower one when you reach ultra rich levels.

He also wants to properly fund law enforcement so they can do their job and receive proper training.
