‘D’ meets all its goals, ‘O’ meets 4 of its goals
Forty-nine unanswered points by halftime turned into 63 unanswered points by the end of the Racers’ game Friday night against the Classen School of Advanced Studies Comets (0-6).
Newcastle, 3-0 in District, and 4-3 overall, flexed its gridiron muscle with 28 first quarter points, 21 second quarter points, and then 7 each in the third and fourth quarters.
Racer Head Coach Jeff Brickman said, “We scored on two defensive touchdowns and the defense gave the ball in great field position all evening.”
The offense took advantage of those positions, scoring possession after possession.
“We met every defensive team goal, such as holding the opponent to under 13 points, under 100 rushing yards, under 100 passing yards, have at least two takeaways, have at least three 3-and-outs,” Brickman said. “We met four offensive team goals. These were to average more than seven yards per rush, zero turnovers, core more than 42 offensive points, score 100% of the time when inside the red zone (inside the 20).”
