The Newcastle High School Band competed at District on March 1 at Duncan High School. They earned superior ratings and have earned the right to compete at the State Competition March 30 at East Central University in Ada. The band, under the direction of Ryan Siebert, is performing “Marche Diabolique” by Brian Balmages and “Insignia” by Sean O’Loughlin. Several students were in the district solo and ensemble competition on Saturday, March 4. The following earned superior ratings and advanced to State: Newcastle Percussion Ensemble composed of Kaylee Estrada, Jefferson Hannon, Tatum Housley, Katie Lewis, and Payton Wolfe; and Newcastle Low Brass Quartet composed of Riley Haws, Copper Lamb, Jaxon Lamb, and Jared Wickham. Individuals who earned superiors and will continue on are: Braxton Cyrus - clarinet; Kaylee Estrada - marimba; Kaylin Holmes - clarinet; Jakob Kastens - alto saxophone; Gavin Lackey - tuba; Katelynn Lewis - French horn; and Payton Wolfe - marimba and timpani.
