UNITED STATES HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES / From the desk of Tom Cole
U.S. Congressman
As Election Day approaches, it is hard not to get caught up in partisan politics and rhetoric. However, in a world where millions of people still do not have the basic right to have a say in their government, we must not forget how lucky we are to live in a nation where the right to vote is protected and valued.
As Americans, voting is not only our civic duty granted by our Founding Fathers, but also our power. It allows us to voice our opinion, serves as a tool for change, and shapes our great nation. It honors the sacrifices of the brave individuals who have fought to preserve our freedom throughout history, as we must always remember that freedom is not free.
In return, I would like to encourage you to exercise this precious right and express your opinion at the polls in November – no matter which way you lean on the political spectrum.
Take the time to research the candidates, educate yourself on the issues, and register to vote in Oklahoma before the deadline on October 11. As Americans, we can shape the future and impact our communities.
We must not take this privilege for granted. Your vote is your power and your voice matters — make it heard!
