In recognition of Workforce Development Month, we take this opportunity to introduce Mid-America Technology Center’s Business and Industry Services (BIS) team.

Under the leadership of Wade Jarlsberg, BIS Director, this dedicated group works tirelessly to equip individuals and businesses with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in today’s competitive landscape. Each member brings specialized expertise to support the diverse training needs of Mid-America’s district.

Chris Willoughby, Adult Program Specialist, offers a wide range of courses that help individuals enhance their employability and professional development. Through both day and evening classes, Willoughby ensures that adult learners have access to the skills necessary for job advancement and success in the workforce.

In the ag. sector, Jona Kay Squires, Agriculture Business Management, provides low-cost, innovative classes designed to make farms and ranches more productive and profitable. Her expertise is complemented by free consultations, helping agricultural entrepreneurs improve their operations.

Kevin O’Donnell, Fire, EMS, and Industry Training Coordinator, partners with OSU-Fire Service Training (OSU-FST) to provide certifications through the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC). His mission is clear: safer firefighters and safer communities.

The healthcare field is a focal point for Tamara Hicks, Healthcare Programs/Training Coordinator. She specializes in advanced skills training for healthcare providers, including Certified Medication Aide (CMA), CMA Advanced, Medical Administration Technician, Phlebotomy, and Customized Clinical Safety programs.

For businesses seeking tailored solutions, Steven Vines, Short-Term Customized Industry Training Coordinator, offers customized training programs focused on industrial safety. Whether it’s job-specific skills or industry regulations, Vines’ programs are designed to meet the unique needs of each business.

Entrepreneurship and small business development are at the heart of Cody Barton’s role as Small Business Coordinator. Barton coaches entrepreneurs on launching new ventures and helps established businesses flourish. His mission is to provide expertise and support, including free consultations.

In healthcare training, Joshua Price, Healthcare Trainer, offers CPR, CNA/ CMA certification, and training for businesses and healthcare professionals, ensuring they have the necessary skills to save lives and provide care.

Joe Garrett and Tommy Blackwood, Industrial/Safety Trainers, focus on environmental and safety training. Garrett provides CPR/ First Aid and onsite training, while Blackwood specializes in heavy equipment operation skills and safety, with both offering customized onsite solutions.

Behind the scenes, Stefanie Klein, BIS Registrar & Date Input Specialist, and Chelsea Hatton, BIS Customer Service Secretary, ensure the smooth operation of the department. Klein manages finances and class enrollment while building inperson relationships with students. Hatton plays a key role in customer service and client engagement, guiding individuals through the class registration process.
