MATC administrators, board members attend OSSBA/CCOSA Education Leadership Conference

Mid-America Technology Center (MATC) administrators Superintendent Mike Eubank, Deputy Superintendent Denny Prince, and board members Doyle Greteman and Michael Dillinger attended the OSSBA/CCOSA Education Leadership Conference recently held at the Oklahoma City Convention Center.

This annual event, co-sponsored by the Oklahoma State School Boards Association (OSSBA) and the Cooperative Council for Oklahoma School Administration (CCOSA), is considered to be a premier training opportunity for school board members, district administrators, and employees across Oklahoma.

The conference kicked off on Thursday, August 22, with a series of pre-conference events. Highlights included the Dr. Bob Mooneyham Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament and a New Legislation and Legal Hot Topics session, which provided insights into recent legislative changes affecting education. The evening concluded with a welcome reception and early check-in, allowing attendees to network and explore the exhibit hall.

Friday and Saturday were packed with what was described as informative sessions designed to equip school leaders with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate the evolving educational landscape.

Friday, August 23

The day began with an orientation for new board members, followed by the first general session featuring keynote speaker, Jeff Henderson.

Henderson is a highly regarded speaker and author recognized by Forbes Magazine as one of the top 20 speakers not to miss.

Drawing from his extensive experience with organizations such as the Atlanta Braves, Chick-fil-A, and North Point Ministries, he delivered a powerful message on building purpose-driven organizations that balance profit with a meaningful mission.

Attendees also had numerous opportunities to visit the exhibit hall and participate in various breakout sessions, covering topics ranging from educational policy updates to innovative instructional strategies.

Saturday, August 24

The second general session opened the day, with Tim Shriver, chairman of Special Olympics and co-founder of UNITE.

Shriver, a prominent advocate for social and emotional learning, shared his journey from educator to global leader. His work with the Special Olympics and the Dignity Index underscored the importance of inclusivity and dignity in education.

Shriver’s address left attendees with a renewed sense of purpose, emphasizing the role of educators in fostering environments where every student is valued and respected.

Following the general assembly, the day was filled with additional breakout sessions offering specialized discussions relevant to different educational roles, and the OSSBA Delegate Assembly.
