Far out! It’s a parade

Tripendicular time traveling parade route September 27

Planning is underway and the date has been set for this year’s Newcastle High School Homecoming Parade.

Floats and students decked out in nostalgic clothes from the “Decades,” will take to Main Street and onto 10th Street at 10 a.m. Friday, September 27.

City of Newcastle Parks and Recreation Director Kyle Marks said of note this year is that the parade route has been flipped. In year’s past, participants have traveled from Veterans Park and ended up at the high school. This year, Marks said, the route begins at the high school, travels on Main Street north, before going west on N.W. 10th Street and concluding at Veterans Park, 705 N.W. 10th.

Marks said the sign up is now available online at https://www. cognitoforms.com/CityOfNewcastle1/ Homecoming2024RulesAnd-Signup. Invited to participate are school groups, local businesses, and community organizations.

“Grab your bell-bottoms, neon gear or 90’s flannel and start planning your float,” Marks said. “Pick your favorite decade and bring your best float game. Be ready to roll on parade day.”
