Newcastle blanked by Tuttle on Friday night

Tuttle put the ball in the endzone three times on two receptions and a run by senior Brady McAdoo to beat the Racers 21-0 at Newcastle.

The first score was a second quarter pass play from Tuttle quarterback Cruz Campbell to McAdoo from 22-yards out. The two connected once again in the second quarter on a 27-yard pass play. Scoring concluded in the fourth quarter on a 5-yard run by McAdoo.

Tuttle, ranked number 3 in class 4A, had a field position advantage on the Racers, number 9 in class 5A, several times.

Newcastle Head Coach Jeff Brickman said, “We had three drives that started inside our own 11-yard line. There was a difference of 20 yards in average starting field position.”

McAdoo was responsible for some of that, as well, executing punts that went out of bounds inside the Racer 10 yard line, Brickman said.

Tuttle had 306 total yards of offense to Newcastle’s 238. Of those, the Racers were fairly even between passing and rushing.

The Racers did have one fumble recovery, but also had one interception on the night. Newcastle also had 86 yards lost due to penalties.

Brickman said senior Taj Smith played in almost every snap on both sides of the ball for the Racers.

He graded out nearly perfectly, according to Coach Brickman.

Smith was named Most Valuable Player of the game for his efforts.

Kayden Longman was the pick for Offense Player of the Game. Trey Burchett was named Defense Player of the Game, and Preston Scagnetti was Special Teams Player of the Game.

NEXT UP!

Next up for the Racers is a game tomorrow night against the Blanchard Lions. Brickman said they are a very good team and they are well coached.

Blanchard has only played one game so far this year, a 49-0 victory over class 5A Noble.
