Open Letter to Christians, A recent letter to the editors of the Newcastle Pacer stated that, “The Founders [of our nation] never assume the country was a Christian nation, nor ever said that.” While that may, or may not, be true, a Christian’s loyalty is to God first, not the founding fathers.
The letter goes on to accuse Christians of trying to impose a “Christian nation on our country.” A person cannot be forced to be a Christian; that requires a willful change of heart. However, the Christian who considers Jesus to be Lord, should let God guide how they live, how they vote, and what they deem right or wrong.
If we allow culture, media, peer pressure, or anything else to take the place of how God wants us to live, we are choosing a path that leads to destruction. Just look at the history of the world.
It is my prayer, that Christians will seek God’s will in everything they think, say, and do … and then act on the answers they receive.
I choose to follow God’s will over the founding father’s opinions (Acts 5:29).
