Ninety-five years of developing commercial property, building homes, flying airplanes and most of all being a father, grandfather, and longtime friend came to a close when Paul Brashier Odom Jr., passed away on August 8, 2024, at his home in Newcastle.

He was born on December 14, 1928, in Southwestern Oklahoma in a farmhouse near Fox to Paul Odom Sr. and Lottye Mae Kelly. At a young age, Paul and his family moved to Oklahoma City where he went on to attend and graduate from Capitol Hill High School. He was proud of being a Redskin and cherished the many friendships he developed and continued to have with those who he went to school with.

During high school, Paul enlisted in the Navy and was drafted to go on and serve his country aboard the U.S.S. Wisconsin BB-64 in 1946. After returning from his military service Paul graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1948 and then attended Oklahoma A&M (now OSU). In 1951 Paul married Pauline. From this union came their children: Paul B. Odom III, Brady Odom, and Charlotte Odom.

Paul joined Odom Development and Construction which his father started in 1935. Paul will be remembered for building countless homes and developing the commercial property along US Interstate 240, the Penn South, and Santa Fe North neighborhoods.

In 1974, while serving as a pilot for an air ambulance, he met and married Mary Elizabeth Storck who was a part of the nursing team on the air ambulance. From this union, came his miracle son, Paul David Odom.

Paul Jr. was a jokester, and storyteller and cherished the daily meals with many of his longtime friends from south Oklahoma City.

Paul was one to give back and served on a host of boards and commissions, including Stockyards Bank, BancFirst, and the Oklahoma State Aeronautics Commission. He was a member of Committee 100, South Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce, Oklahoma City F.O.P, FBI Citizen’s Academy, and he was the founder of the Southwest Homebuilders Association.

Paul had a love for aviation and flying. He was a registered pilot for more than 75 years and was proud of his ATP status.

Left to cherish his memories are: his three sons, P.B. Odom III and his children David Odom and Rachel Odom; Brady Odom along with his daughter Madison; Paul David Odom and his wife Taylor and their children Paul and Millie; Charlotte Stefanic and her son Michael Paul; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins, and many longtime friends. He is predeceased by: his parents, sister, his wife Mary, and his daughter-in-law Elizabeth.

A service to celebrate Paul’s life was Monday, August 12, 2024, at Southern Hills Baptist Church.

For those who wish, you can remember Paul by contributing to the Paul B Odom Jr. Foundation in the care of the Oklahoma City Community Foundation.
