Area residents who would like to learn more about their community and those thinking about moving to Newcastle are invited to attend Meet the CommUNITY at the Newcastle Christian Church “Sanctuasium,” 2200 N. Main Street.

It will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 10.

“Meet the CommUNITY is a time for new and old Newcastle residents to see and hear what is available locally. Its aim is to foster connections between community members and showcase the goods and services offered by local businesses, city staff and school organizations,” said Newcastle Chamber of Commerce Executive Director/CEO Gayla Riddle.

Admission to this event is free to the public, according to a church spokesperson. She said there will be businesses, government entities and community members attending to meet, greet and share information.

Some who will be in attendance include insurance companies, banks and financial institutions, churches, and two area non-profit pregnancy centers. In the past, they’ve had Avon and Tupperware representatives in attendance. They’ll set up spaces such as tables or booths with information from the community’s businesses and services. Many will have free promotional items, and a raffle will be held.

“The event will feature networking opportunities and booths where attendees can explore and learn more about local businesses. Attendees will be treated to a complimentary hot dog lunch provided by Pioneer Co-op with dessert courtesy of the church,” Riddle said.

Chamber members can participate for free, and non-members are invited to take part, but must pay a booth rental fee.

Riddle said, “Businesses interested in participating should contact the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce via email to reserve booth space. There is no need for attendees to RSVP; the community is encouraged to attend, meet local businesses, and potentially receive free promotional items.

Come help us host this great event. It is a special time to meet some of the businesses in Newcastle as well as be introduced to members of our community.”
