A STEM Day camp took place on June 6 at the Mc-Clain County Farm & Home Building. Eighteen 4-H members participated in this camp where they were led by Oklahoma State University STEMist.

Members learned about the water cycle, recycling, pollination, and birds. The students had many hands-on activities with the day camp.

State 4-H record books are a great way for members to see their growth in the 4-H program. State record books were turned in in April. The books were then judged in May. McClain County had six youth who were selected as finalists in their respective project areas.

Kreas Richard, Newcastle Top 3 finalist in the Veterinary Science Project Theresa Howard, Wayne Top 3 in the Advanced Agriculture Project Hailey Haxton, Blanchard Top 3 in the Advanced Family & Consumer Sciences Project EveLynne Thayer, Purcell - Top 3 in the Achievement Project Estella Thayer, Purcell Top 3 in the Family & Consumer Sciences Project Marlee Lowden, Newcastle - Top 3 in the Photography Project Winners will be announced on July 25 at the Masonic Charity Foundation Honors Night Assembly at State 4-H Roundup on Oklahoma State University campus. The award also comes with a $1,200 scholarship to go towards furthering their education after high school.

4-H Summer camp has been a highlight for many 4-H member’s summer. McClain County partnered with six other counties in the state to put on one of the largest 4-H camps in the state.

4-H members attended camp in Binger and competed in the 4-H Olympics during this camp. McClain County had 10 kids represented at this camp.

Cloverbuds are members that are looking forward to becoming full-fledged members when they come of age. This program is open to 5–7-yearolds. The Cloverbud day camp is a camp specifically for those kids. Six Cloverbuds attended this exciting day camp. These kids learned about good character skills such as responsibility, trustworthiness, and respect. The kids did several activities to practice these skills.

Sewing day camp is a threeday camp which taught kids proper sewing technique. They had 16 4-H members attend the day camps.

The members made aprons, garment bags, and toiletry bags. They also partnered with McClain County OHCE to assist the members while making their items!

4-H is open to all youth in McClain County and all are encouraged to join. If you are interested in enrolling, contact the McClain County Extension Office at 405-5272174.
