The Pioneer Library System celebrates engaging 100,000 library cardholders this summer. 38% of PLS’s customers actively and routinely use their library card, with 75% of the total service area owning a library card.

“This milestone of 100,000 active cardholders is such an exciting goal to meet for the Pioneer Library System. We have a lot of community members with library cards, but we encourage you to use them! There is so much more to discover as a part of your local library.” said Kelly Sitzman, Director of Communications and Employee Development for PLS.

The Pioneer Library System aims to inspire innovation, engagement, and learning in their communities by offering unique services and programming for all ages including touring summer programs.

“It’s exciting to hit this major milestone of 100,000 active card holders, especially as we are also kicking off this year’s Summer Learning Challenge!” said Purcell Branch Manager Rebekah Lynam.

The theme of PLS’s Summer Learning Challenge 2024 is Summer Adventure, and participants can earn points for each minute spent taking part in a learning activity. The goal for 2024 is 15 million points logged by the community and continues now until August 15, 2024.

Upon completing the community goal of 15 million points, the Pioneer Library System Foundation will donate books to children enrolled in WIC programs in the PLS service area.

Founded in 1958, PLS today offers full-access libraries in 10 communities throughout Cleveland, McClain, and Pottawatomie counties, as well as additional access locations in smaller communities and outreach services including Business Services and the PLS Mobile Maker Lab.

You can log points at pioneer. beanstack.org to earn rewards from any PLS location. For more information about PLS locations, services, and resources, visit pioneerlibrarysystem. org.
