Four Mid-America Technology Center (MATC) students, accompanied by two teacher-advisors, represented their institution at the prestigious HOSA-Future Health Professionals International Leadership Conference from June 26-29 in Houston, Texas.

The students competed in four different contests, showcasing their skills and knowledge in the health sciences.

The HOSA International Leadership Conference is an annual event that brings together future health professionals from around the globe. It provides a platform for students to demonstrate their competencies through various competitive events ranging from clinical practices to healthcare management and beyond.

These students competing on the national level have already proven themselves to be tough competitors, as they have already earned top honors at state-level competitions.

The MATC delegation included: Isaac Daniel-Smith — competing in Sports Medicine; Kloe Overley — competing in Personal Care; Isabella Redus — competing in Nursing Assistant; and Arleth Rocha (postsecondary) — competing in PT.

MATC advisors who accompanied the students are April Johnson, Therapeutic Health Careers teacher, and Sarah Raney, Nursing Services Advanced teacher.

HOSA’s ILC is not just about the competitions. The conference also gives the students a chance to meet peers from different parts of the world, learn from experts in the field, and gain insights that will shape their future careers.

HOSA is a global studentled organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, the Department of Health and Human Services, and several federal and state agencies whose mission is to empower future health professionals to become leaders.
