With a field of six candidates vying for the State House District 20 seat being vacated by incumbent Sherrie Conley, who knew which way the vote would go in the Republican primary election.
At the end of the night Tuesday, June 18, Mike Whaley, of Blanchard, and Jonathan Wilk, of Goldsby, were the top vote getters. They will be in a primary runoff election August 27 to see who will face Democrat Mitchell Jacob, of Newcastle, in the November 5 General Election.
For the State Senate District 43 Republican primary, Mc-Clain County Assessor Kendal Sacchieri, of Blanchard, was the top vote-getter by 628 over incumbent Jessica Garvin, of Duncan. Sacchieri will face Democrat Sam Graefe, of Purcell, in the November 5 General Election.
Incumbent Republican Tom Cole, of Moore, prevailed over his four opponents and the heavy spending in the U.S. Congress 4th District primary. Most of the spending came from newcomer Paul L. Bondar, a resident of Texas, who established residency in Stonewall, Oklahoma, just before filing for the District 4 seat.
Cole, who had almost 65% of the vote in the primary, will face Democrat Mary Brannon, of Washington, and Independent James Stacy, of Burneyville, in the General Election.
Newcastle and McClain County voters also had a say in the Republican primary race for Corporation Commiioner to see who will replace the outgoing Bob Anthony. Statewide, J. Brian Bingman, of Sapulpa, had 53.4% of the vote to claim victory over Justin Hornback, of Broken Arrow, and Russell Ray, of Edmond. Bingman will face Democrat, Harold Spradling, of Oklahoma City, and Libertarian Chad Williams, of Choctaw.
