Many people proudly display the American flag at their home or business. It is a symbol of glory, honor, sacrifice and freedom.
But what do you do with the flag once it has become worn?
The Newcastle Rotary Club is accepting damaged flags to properly retire them.
Once the flags are collected, they will be donated to the district scout program. The scouts will then be able to hold a flag retirement ceremony and also use it as a time to teach new scouts the ceremonial process of flag retirement.
The Newcastle Rotary Club will have an American flag collection booth set up at the annual Red White & Blue Fest 2024 at Veteran’s Park on Saturday, June 29.
