The June report from the Oklahoma Tax Commission was recently sent out and reflects returns of tax dollars sent to area municipalities for business done in May.
Retail and Use taxes returned indicate sales in Newcastle continue to increase. Blanchard, Goldsby and Norman also showed increases, while Purcell and Dibble showed decreases.
Use tax:
Every state with a sales tax has a companion tax for outside the state. In Oklahoma, this is a “use tax.”
When someone purchases items for use in Oklahoma from retailers who do not collect sales tax, the buyer owes the state on those items. The state use tax was first enacted in 1937.
