The discharge of fireworks is permitted in the city limits of the City of Newcastle only between the hours of 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on July 2, 3, and 5, and from 8 a.m. to midnight on July 4.
It is unlawful for any person to discharge fireworks from any public street, right-of-way, easement, or city owned property.
Also, the discharge of fireworks upon private property is unlawful unless the owner or tenant is present or the persons discharging the fireworks have written permission from the owner or tenant.
Scott Hannan, City of Newcastle communications director, said fireworks in the City of Newcastle are regulated by the Code of Ordinances, Title XI: Business Regulations, Chapter 116: Fireworks, §116.09 Discharge Requirements.
