Automotive Service Technician students Aura Valenzuela and Kallee Boatwright were named as the 2024 recipients of the J.W. Baker Memorial Scholarship at Mid-America Technology Center.
Valenzuela is a recent graduate of Lindsay High School, while Boatwright is a recent Lexington High School graduate.
Alex Jurado, MATC Automotive teacher, has nothing but praise for Valenzuela and Boatwright.
“These two students showed up ready to work every day and could always be counted on to help other students in either the classroom or shop, Jurado said.
He continued, “They will go far in the automotive industry. They are champions!”
J.W. Baker, of Wayne, was an adjunct teacher and a big supporter of Mid-America Technology Center for many years.
Because of his service and dedication to the technology center, money was donated in Mr. Baker’s honor to be given in the form of the J.W. Baker Memorial Scholarship.
