Donna Joyce Long closed her eyes and entered forever peace on the evening of June 4, 2024. Donna was born on August 18, 1939, in Binger, Oklahoma, to Homer L. and Artis G. Meeks. She married Kenneth Glenn Long on December 16, 1956, and had a lifetime of love until his death on January 1, 1996.
Glenn and Donna made their home in Oklahoma City upon his return from the Army. In 1970, they moved to Newcastle, Oklahoma, and were active in the community.
While Glenn was in the Army, Donna began a long career at Norick Brothers Printing, subsequently Reynolds & Reynolds. After retiring from the corporate world, she unexpectedly found a new career at Winter House Interiors, until her most recent second retirement. She dearly loved “the boys” at the store and all of her clients.
Donna was a gifted piano player from a very young age. As a young girl she played the piano at the Binger Baptist Church. She continued to play the piano throughout her life, both at church and at home. The piano was a source of solitude and peace for her, no matter what the world would throw at her. Her faith from the church and the sound of music was strong.
While she could be very independent in her views, she always maintained a close connection with her faith. Donna never questioned the obstacles that came before her. She placed those obstacles in the hands of her faith to her very last breath.
Donna was preceded in death by: her father and mother and her loving husband and friend, Glenn. She was also preceded in death by: her four siblings, Cyrus O’Neal Meeks, Iris Gearlene King, Herman Lavonne Meeks, and Homer Darrell Meeks.
Donna is survived by: her son, Gregg Long, of Oklahoma City; her special sister-in-law, Dee Meeks of Binger; many nieces, nephews and other family members. She is also survived by a special group of friends, her chosen family.
The family would like to thank the following for their love and care during this 10-year journey: Dr. Johnny McMinn, his nurse Barbara and everyone at Baptist ICIO; Dr. Carl Raczkowski, Dr. Aline Brown and the many doctors and nurses along the way. Also, many thanks to her incredible neighbors, Judy Chaffin and Aimee Larsen and family.
