A hazardous waste disposal event is coming to Newcastle from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 1. You can get rid of all your oil-based paints, leftover pesticides, and batteries, among other items at this event.

The Too Toxic to Trash event is for household items only. No commercial waste is being accepted.

The Chickasaw Training Center at 400 N.W. 32nd Street is the location and you’ll be able to stay in your car while volunteers unload your items.

Among items being accepted are also cleaning supplies, sharps, batteries and light bulbs, aerosols, and tires. No tire rims will be accepted, however you can bring your old tires from cars and trucks, and ag vehicle tires under 72”, as well as motorcycle tires.

This is also a good time to bring expired and unused medications including both narcotic and non-narcotic, however no liquids, no inhalers and no medical marijuana products will be accepted.

Event organizers said they reserve the right to close early in the event that their collection quota is maxed out.

The Too Toxic To Trash event is sponsored by the City of Newcastle, Keep Oklahoma Beautiful, the Chickasaw Nation, Oklahoma Environmental Quality, Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, RTR Environmental, and the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority.

During the event, OTA will have the ability to create accounts and they will have other services available.
