As a way to help those in the Newcastle area who are in need of food, the annual Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is Saturday, May 11.
Mail carriers and volunteers will be picking up food on this day, and the Newcastle Post Office will be a drop-off point for those who wish to donate there.
For those donating at their home, the mail carriers are delivering sacks this week to be filled. These will be picked up on Saturday.
The Post Office will have mail tubs inside the lobby for customers to drop off their food items.
All food collected will be given to the Tri City Hope Center.
The Tri City Hope Center is open every Thursday from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. for families to pick up food, clothing and other items.
