Newcastle Racer girls golfers Katelyn Kates and Haylee James made the trip on April 29-30 to the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Athletic Association Class 5A Girls’ State Championship played at Muskogee Country Club.
Kates came in 55th place shooting a two-round total of 225, and James came in 59th with a two-day total of 231.
Katelyn’s dad, Chris, said it was a great experience for the girls. He said the girls should be congratulated for a great season.
Newcastle girls golf is coached by Bo Bradshaw.
Racer Boys at Regionals
Newcastle boys golf finished 12th as a team at the Regional golf tournament May 1 at John Conrad Golf Course in Midwest City.
Keaton Fuksa shot a 94, good enough for a 40th place finish. Jase Fullingim and Mason Dobbs both shot a 95 and were tied for 45th place. Grady Meek shot a 106, and Cayden Viss shot a 113.
Evan Goold, a Newcastle senior who has played all year, did not play at Regionals.
