State Capitol visit a time to hear business issues

Newcastle Chamber May activities include Mingle at INTEGRIS, Veterans luncheon

Some members of the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce took time away from their businesses on Wednesday to visit with elected officials at the State Capitol in Oklahoma City.

A Newcastle Chamber Day at the State Capitol was organized and held from 8:15 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Guest speakers included State Senator Jessica Garvin, R-Duncan, and State Representative Sherrie Conley, RNewcastle, as well as advocates for various causes.

Their schedule for the day included representatives from the State Chamber, Tribal Affairs of the Chickasaw Nation, and representatives from the Oklahoma Petroleum Alliance, rural commerce and economic development, mental health, and election issues. To conclude the day they visited with Governor Kevin Stitt.

Other upcoming activities for the Newcastle Chamber include a 9 a.m. Morning Mingle tomorrow (Friday, May 10) at INTEGRIS Medical Health Group, 2191 N. Main, Suite E in Newcastle.

A Multi-Chamber Business Bites is scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 15 at San Marcos Mexican Restaurant in Newcastle. This is a networking luncheon with lunch on your own.

The May chamber luncheon begins at 11:45 a.m. May 28 at the Community Room in the Newcastle Library. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Veteran Corner. Sponsors for the luncheon include the Chickasaw Nation, OED and OEC Fiber, Pioneer, State Senator Jessica Garvin, and Tinker Federal Credit Union.

The chamber has organized a “Wear it Wednesday” promotion where local businesses can bring to the chamber office a T-shirt, cap or jacket with their business name or logo and they’ll be worn and utilized for a social media post, which they say will give your business “valuable online presence.”
