Newcastle is a busy and growing city. To find out what some of the recent projects have been, and also what is being planned to address future growth, the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce will have its annual State of the City luncheon from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 23 at the Community Room at Newcastle Library.

Mayor Karl Nail is the guest speaker for the event, and will have a Powerpoint presentation detailing where the City has been and where it is going with various projects.

Nail said, “Newcastle is one of the fastest growing cities in the state, and has been in that category for quite a while. One of the things we spend a great deal of time and energy on is planning for the future. I plan to discuss areas where we have seen these efforts come to fruition and what plans we are currently working on.”

The Mayor said in addition to the current planning, he will be highlighting some of the recently completed projects and provide an overview of what the City expects to be the issues that will have the greatest impact on the community moving forward. Two examples of what can be expected to be discussed are the state-of-the art animal shelter, the new Fire Station I, and the wastewater treatment facility which is currently under construction.

For those wishing to attend the State of the City luncheon, registration and a $15 fee can be completed online at the chamber’s website, newcastleok. org, under the “upcoming events” link. If paying the day of the event, the cost is $20.

For additional information, contact Chamber President/CEO Gayla Riddle.

Nail said, “I hope that all Newcastle residents feel the way that I do, that Newcastle is a very special place to have the opportunity to live. We are very close to Oklahoma City, Moore and Norman. We have, and will continue to experience change and growth. My goal, and that of the City of Newcastle, is to keep the things that make Newcastle so special and add things that will positively impact the lives of our residents.”

The Library Community Room is at 705 N.W. 10th Street in Veterans Park.
