The April report from the Oklahoma Tax Commission was recently sent out showing returns of tax dollars sent to area municipalities for business transacted in March.
Retail and Use taxes returned indicate sales in Newcastle showed an increase from the same time the previous year. McClain County had a slight decrease.

Use tax:
Every state with a sales tax has a companion tax for outside the state. In Oklahoma, this is a “use tax.”
When someone purchases items for use in Oklahoma from retailers who do not collect sales tax, the buyer owes the state on those items. The state use tax was first enacted in 1937.
