Chas Gentry, a senior at Newcastle High School, paged for Rep. Sherrie Conley (R-Newcastle) from April 1-4 at the State Capitol.
House pages run messages to legislators while they are in the chamber debating policy and voting on measures, and they help in their Capitol offices. Pages also participate in a mock session, in which they learn legislative procedure and how to write legislation.
Chas is the son of LeAnn Gentry.
After graduation, Chas plans to attend Oklahoma City Community College to complete an Associate’s Degree in psychology and later to attend the University of Oklahoma School of Social Work to become a licensed clinical social worker.
Chas is a third-year varsity football starter and a twoyear team captain. He’s also a top hand at Diamond G. Ranch. Other extra-curricular activities include National Honor Society, track, powerlifting and FFA.
His community service projects include volunteering for little league football summer camps and games, serving as a volunteer and participant in Newcastle’s STRUT Week (Students, Teachers & Racers, United Together), cleaning up trash in his community and volunteering at Mission Norman.
Chas says his proudest achievement is the time he squatted over 500 pounds for the first time. His lifetime goal is to find peace and freedom and to start a family based on Christian values.
“It was such a pleasure to have Chas serve in my office at the Capitol this week,” Conley said. “He’s a young man of excellent character who exhibits a lot of drive and determination. I know he will do very well in achieving his life’s goals.”
Conley serves District 20 in the Oklahoma House of Representatives. Her district includes parts of Cleveland and McClain counties.
