Newcastle’s Racer baseball team had a 6-4 victory over the Blanchard Lions on Friday, and then a 9-0 win against Fletcher Saturday, giving them a 9-1 record going into Spring Break this week.
They’ve had only one loss. That was against the Noble Bears back on March 9. The loss was surrounded by victories including an 11-5 win over Crossing Christian School and a 5-4 game against Fort Cobb-Broxton.
The Racers had a double header against Madill’s Wildcats on Monday and then they take on Ardmore next Monday and Tuesday.
Against Blanchard, Jackson Schanuel opened scoring with a two RBI home run in the first inning and then a two RBI home run in the third. The score was tied 4-4 in the fourth inning, but the tie was broken in the bottom of the 7th inning when Taj Smith hit the ball to the left center wall for a stand-up double, and two RBIs.
Kaden Longman started the game for the Racers and Austin Gibson earned the win. Longman moved to right field, where he threw out two runners at home plate.
