The February report from the Oklahoma Tax Commission was recently sent out showing returns of tax dollars sent to area municipalities for business done in January.
Retail and Use taxes returned indicate sales in Newcastle were on the rise in comparison to last year’s sales at the same time. County sales showed a decrease in January.

Use tax:
Every state with a sales tax has a companion tax for outside the state. In Oklahoma, this is a “use tax.”
When someone purchases items for use in Oklahoma from retailers who do not collect sales tax, the buyer owes the state on those items. The state use tax was first enacted in 1937.
