Saturday at 5 p.m. is the Newcastle Junior Livestock Association Bonus Auction to benefit area youth. The public and area business owners are invited to the Newcastle Fair Barn on Main Street to help support the youth in both a live auction and a silent auction.
Renee Aleman, Newcastle Livestock Booster Club president, said “The auction is a great way to get your business in front of the public, and let Newcastle’s students know you support them. The students, as well as their parents and all of the many people involved appreciate your support.”
Aleman said the event begins at 5 p.m. Saturday and Jon Cooper will be leading as auctioneer.
During the live auction, local sponsors bid on the Junior Livestock Association members’ animals to provide a “bonus” to the students. Ownership is not transferred, but the successful bidders are invited to take a photograph with the student and their animal after the auction.
An appreciation dinner is held later in the year and the photos are presented to the buyers. You do not have to be present at the auction to bid or add on to a student.
